Placed in six rounds of the Wrangler NFR en route to finishing second in the average to Fred Whitfield, with a time of 89.7 seconds on 10 head. Finished eighth in the all-around world standings with $164,677 and fifth in the tie-down roping with $135,427
• 2001: Won California Rodeo Salinas; the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Vernal, Utah) and the Walla Walla (Wash.) Fair & Frontier Days; finished ninth in the all-around world standings with $153,495 and sixth in the tie-down roping with $146,625. Surpassed $1 million in career earnings on July 14 in Vernal, Utah
• 2000: Won Round 1 of the Wrangler NFR in 7.4 seconds and Round 5 in 8.0; shared the wins in Round 9 (7.7) and Round 10 (7.5); placed in eight of 10 rounds and won the NFR average with a time of 86.9 seconds on 10 head, earning a then-record $103,585 in Las Vegas. Finished second in the tie-down roping world standings with $192,243, just $2,693 behind Fred Whitfield. Won the Dodge City (Kan.) Round-Up; the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and the New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo (Albuquerque)
• 1996: Won the all-around at the Laughlin (Nev.) Stampede and the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo; finished fifth in the all-around world standings with $116,825 and sixth in the tie-down roping with $100,360

5-9, 170 … Wife, Cami (married in 1994); daughter, Sierra; son, Sam … Parents, Terry and Pauline … Hobbies include hunting and fishing … Lewis retired from rodeo in 2005 to be at home more for his daughter, Sierra, who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy early in her life … Produced an instructional video, Calf Roping with Brent Lewis and did a lot of roping clinics and horse training after leaving the rodeo road; he also leased a cattle ranch … Joe Beaver and Cody Ohl were instrumental in encouraging his comeback in 2011 … Credits 1982 NFSR qualifier Pecos Shannon with helping him improve his steer roping technique
