• 2014: Placed in two rounds of the Wrangler NFR. Won the Wrangler Champions Challenge (Redding, Calif.); the Leduc (Alberta) Black Gold Rodeo; the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo (Oakley City, Utah) and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Posse PRCA Rodeo (Center, Texas). Won the all-around and tie-down roping at the SW District Fat Stock Show Rodeo (Lake Charles, La.). Finished ninth in the world standings with $116,160
• 2013: Won Round 1 of the Wrangler NFR in 7.6 seconds and Round 9 in 7.4; placed in five other rounds on his way to winning the average title in a record time of 80.1 seconds and his first world championship with earnings of $207,672. Won the Wrangler Champions Challenge (Redding, Calif.); the Spanish Fork (Utah) Fiesta Days Rodeo; the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo and the National Western Stock Show Rodeo (Denver). • 2012: Won Round 7 of the Wrangler NFR in 7.6 seconds and placed in three other rounds on his way to finishing third in the average standings and fifth in the world with total earnings of $159,311. Won the Ponoka (Alberta) Stampede; the Lewiston (Idaho) Roundup; the Daines Ranch Rodeo (Innisfail, Alberta); the Grande Prairie (Alberta) Stompede; That Famous Preston (Idaho) Night Rodeo; the Bonnyville (Alberta) ProRodeo; the Crosby (Texas) Fair & Rodeo; the Harrison (Ark.) • 2011: Won Round 9 of the Wrangler NFR with a time of 7.6 seconds and placed in one other round; finished 11th in the world standings with $110,501. 5-10, 150 … Single … Parents, Doug and Gail Hanchey; brother, Jason; sisters, Brandi, Megan and Kayla; cousin, Corey Granger, is a PRCA bull rider … Jason is also a PRCA tie-down roper and trains roping horses in Okeechobee, Fla.; he trained Reata, who has been Shane’s primary competition horse since his sophomore year in high school; although he only uses him for special occasions now... Shane has three other horses: Si (2017 AQHA Tie-Down Roping Horse of the Year), PamPam, and BamBam … Enjoys playing golf when he isn't competing … Home-schooled through Abeka Academy … A huge sports fan, especially of the Houston Astros, New Orleans Pelicans, New Orleans Saints and Louisiana State University Tigers … Favorite rodeo is Pendleton Roundup, favorite book is "Mind Gym" and his favorite movie is “Sandlot” … Favorite quote is from Muhammad Ali: “Champions aren’t made in gyms.
