• 2009: Won the tie-down roping at the Reno (Nev.) Finished eighth in the all-around world standings with $77,405 and 10th in the steer roping with $39,779, placing in five rounds of the NFSR (Guthrie, Okla.)

Grandfather, Len McClaugherty, was a member of the Cowboys’ Turtles Association, precursor to the PRCA … Runs the family’s deer hunting operation on the ranch in Tilden, Texas … Enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with family … Primarily a tie-down roper through the early years of his career because he “never had a horse good for steer roping” until 2008, when he bought Keeper from friend and fellow steer roper Cody Dutton. Scott Snedecor mentored McClaugherty in steer roping while Landon was a student at Southwest Texas Junior College, in Snedecor’s hometown of Uvalde, Texas … Favorite rodeo is Cheyenne (Wyo.)
