• 2009: Won Round 1 of the Wrangler NFR with an 89-point ride on Cervi & Guidry Rodeo's Hot Diggity Damn, Round 8 with an 87-point ride on D & H Cattle's Grey Dog and Round 10 with a rodeo-best 93-point ride on Four L & Diamond S Rodeo's Big Iron; placed in two additional rounds and won the NFR average. Won the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo (Denver); the Dixie National Rodeo (Jackson, Miss.); the Walla Walla (Wash) Frontier Days. 5-8, 140 … Wife, Sydney (married on Nov. 28, 2009); son, Kasen Shane (born Sept. 23, 2011); daughter, Kymber (born July 18, 2013) … Enjoys hunting, fishing and playing golf … Nickname is "Mighty Mouse" … Was home-schooled … Parents are Mike and Kim (deceased). His younger brother, Kaleb, was the 2008 PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding Rookie of the Year; his older brother, Klayten, is an officer with the Georgia State Highway Patrol … Kanin was the Wyoming State High School wrestling champion at 112 pounds as a junior and at 119 pounds as a senior; he had three offers of college wrestling scholarships … He had a 95.5-point ride on Broken Arrow Rodeo’s Wardance, the 2005 PRCA Bull of the Year, at  the 2007 Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas … Kanin suffered a ruptured spleen, a partially torn right ear and broken rib at the St. Paul (Ore.) Rodeo on July 2, 2008. He had surgery to remove the spleen and re-attach the ear and returned to action just two months later at the Lewiston (Idaho) Roundup, held Sept. 5-7, where he was co-champion ... Missed much of 2011 season after undergoing hip surgery ... Raises bucking bulls and enjoys fishing
