His father, Jim, is a rancher and mother, Lana, is a school teacher. He has one sister, Misty, and two brothers, Cory and Ryan. Ryan is also a saddle bronc rider who won seven PRCA rodeos in 2011. J.J. travels with Ryan and another pair of brothers, Brandon and Zach West … J.J., Ryan, and their cousin Cole Elshere, all qualified for the 2009-11 Dodge Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeos ... Favorite rodeos are the Deadwood (S.D.) Days of '76 and the Wrangler NFR, favorite food is pizza and favorite movie is Tommy Boy … Graduated from Philip (S.D.)
