Breaking down the half-million-dollar Justin Finale at the Washington State Fair Pro Rodeo in Puyallup, which pits the top 24 competitors in each event from the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour against each other. The Justin Finale kicks off tonight, Sept. 6, and concludes Sunday, Sept. 9.

Sage Kimzey, the reigning four-time PRCA bull riding world champion, set a regular-season record by winning $274,099 this season, including ground money. Kimzey owned the previous record with $237,152, set last season, which also included ground money.

Cowboys competed at 26 rodeos across North America worth a collective $1.4 million from Aug. 27 through Sept. 3. With so much money up for grabs, 35 cowboys climbed within the Top 15. Bull rider Elliot Jacoby had the biggest move, from 19th to 10th.

The stakes were high this week, as the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo was the final rodeo on the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour before the Justin Finale in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 6-9. As the calendar flipped from August to September, there was $1,413,873 worth of PRCA action as cowboys competed at 26 rodeos across North America, Aug. 27 through Sept. 3.

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Sage Kimzey won the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale Division 1 event Saturday night, as the only bull rider to cover two bulls. He took home more than $33,000.

With one month left in the regular season, cowboys flock to Walla Walla (Wash.) Frontier Days as they race to the finish line. Tie-down roper E.J. Roberts set two Walla Walla records in 2012. First, his 7.1-second run is the fastest to date, which helped him also to set the two-head average record of 15.7 seconds.

Pulling through in the final round to win a big rodeo has been the theme for tie-down roper Shane Hanchey’s 2018 season. The Louisiana cowboy was the fifth callback for the Horse Heaven / Kennewick (Wash.) Round-Up’s final round, but he won the average on Aug. 26, just like he did earlier this season at Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days and the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas.
