COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jerry Olson, who was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2001 in the contract personnel category passed away Sept. 13 in Belle Fourche, S.D. He was 81.

Many arena records have been set at the New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo, and all of the bareback riding records are held by Royce Ford. In 2006, he set the record with his 92-point ride and the three-head average record with 258 points. Then, in 2007, Ford set his third Albuquerque record by going for 174 points on two head.

Since 1910, the Pendleton Round-Up has played host to some of ProRodeo’s top athletes, but only the best leave their mark by setting arena records. Pendleton's bareback riding record of 89 points was originally set by Bruce Ford in 1979 - and was unmatched until Andy Martinez arrived in 2006.

Team ropers Erich Rogers and Cory Petska reclaimed the lead for the first time since June 12 by winning $10,358 this week.

Fresh off his first win at the Justin Boots Playoffs at the Washington State Fair Pro Rodeo in Puyallup, Wash., this 36-year-old cowboy is running and gunning from one rodeo to the next and picking up checks along the way.

Since 1935, the Lewiston (Idaho) Roundup has played host to some of ProRodeo’s greatest athletes and witnessed some high scores and fast times along the way. Tie-down roper Blair Burk (pictured above) has the longest-standing arena record in Lewiston with his 1999 time of 7.5 seconds.

The Washington State Fair Rodeo is home to the Justin Boots Playoffs and from Sept. 7-10, each ride and each run will be a chance to make Puyallup, Wash., history and get a spot in the arena record book, just like Taos Muncy did in 2011 with his 91-point ride. He returned in 2012 to match his previous record score.

Jordan Spears won nearly $40,000 while claiming his first Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale victory. The Californian cowboy’s 87-point ride on Korkow Rodeos’ Bad Romance was the only qualified ride in the final round, doubling his payout for that round.
