Denny Wall, a bull rider who qualified for the National Finals Rodeo from 1965-68 and won the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days Rodeo in 1966, passed away Nov. 13 in Payson, Ariz. He was 72. Bull rider Jordan Hansen thought his season was over in July when he shattered his ankle, which required three plates and 10 screws to repair. Hansen had other ideas. He came back for the 43rd edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo and left as the Canadian Bull Riding Champion.

Chance Howard, of Cedarville, Ark., won his first RSCFR with a time of 13.7 seconds on three head. He took the average title by 2.5 seconds, earning a total of $6,594.

Roping steers is what Rocky Patterson does – and does well. In fact, no cowboy in the PRCA roped them better in 2016 than the Pratt, Kan., cowboy. Thanks to earning $56,432 at the 2016 Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping, Patterson rode away with his fourth gold buckle.

Rocky Patterson defined efficiency on opening night of the 2016 Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping Friday. And that consistency placed a fourth gold buckle within reach for the Pratt, Kan., cowboy. Patterson placed in all five rounds and won $22,099, the most of any contestant on Day 1 at the Kansas Star Arena.

PRCA stock contractor Terry Walls, who sent many top animals to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo over the last three decades as owner of Terry Walls Rodeo Company and Pro Rodeo Inc., died at his home in Goldthwaite, Texas Nov. 9 due to complications from a non-malignant brain tumor. He was 70.
