Nathan Jestes, who has worked the past three Wrangler National Finals Rodeos, suffered a severe right hamstring injury during Round 1 of the 2018 Wrangler NFR. He had surgery Jan. 31 in New York City.

The groundhog didn’t see his shadow on Feb. 2, but plenty of cowboys were seeing green as the five competitions held Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 were worth a collective $287,147. The bulk of this week’s prize money came from Rodeo Rapid City (S.D.), but a few lucky cowboys walked away with thicker wallets at the Indianapolis addition of the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo. With so much money up for grabs, 19 cowboys climbed within the Top 15.

The first high-dollar rodeo of the 2019 season created a significant shakeup in the PRCA | RAM World Standings. As $478,326 in prize money from the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver was divided among the winners, 39 cowboys saw their positions improve within the Top 15.
