Denver’s National Western Stock Show and Rodeo has hosted some of the biggest names in ProRodeo since 1946. Cowboys have from Jan. 11-21 to win a piece of the prize money, but only the best make the arena record book. Steer wrestler Duane Foster’s (pictured above) 2.9-second run has been Denver’s fastest time since 1974.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association has named George Taylor its Chief Executive Officer. Taylor is a former executive with Caterpillar, where he was most recently a company officer and vice president with responsibility for the Marketing & Digital Division.

Since 1955, ProRodeo cowboys have kicked off the new calendar year at the Sandhills Stock Show & Rodeo in Odessa, Texas. Since, this Lone Star State rodeo has played host to some high-scoring rides and speedy times, but only the top scores and times make the arena record book. The oldest arena record at Odessa is held by bull rider Brian Herman (pictured above) who made a 91-point ride in 1995 that remained unmatched until Colin McTaggart repeated the feat in 2010.

Wilbur Plaugher was PRCA Clown of the Year in 1982. Plaugher also rode saddle broncs and bareback horses, but steer wrestling was his specialty. For years, it wasn’t unusual to see him wrestling steers in his baggy clown britches and grease paint.

For the second year in a row, bull rider Sage Kimzey did what no one has done before. He actually did two things nobody has done before. At the age of 23, Kimzey won his fourth consecutive world title in his fourth attempt, the first bull rider to ever do that. He won the fourth one in style, riding 4L & Diamond S Rodeo’s Girl Money to the tune of 88 points to win Round 10 and take home the gold buckle at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday in front of 16,954.

During the 59th annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER, Trevor Brazile and Tuf Cooper, Brazile’s brother-in-law, have been battling it out to win the coveted all-around world championship.

Junior Nogueira was so excited to celebrate that he nearly fell off his horse. His jubilation came with good reason, as the heeler and his header, Kaleb Driggers, tied the team roping world record with a time of 3.3 seconds Friday night.

After a dislocating his right knee while riding Beutler & Son’s Redigo during Round 8, bareback rider Jake Vold will not compete in the last two rounds of the 2017 WNFR. Vold is a three-time qualifier (2014-17) and is currently ranked 10th in the average with 598.5 points on seven head.

There’s just something about the bright lights of Las Vegas that Ryder Wright loves. Wright won four straight rounds, and five total, during his inaugural trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER in 2016. In his last five saddle bronc rides at this year’s event, the 19-year-old has three first-place finishes.

Hardy Braden is making the most of his first trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER. Coming into the 2017 Finals, Braden was just hoping to compete and maybe place a few times. On Wednesday, Dec. 13, Braden won his second go-round at the Thomas & Mack Center, scoring 88 points on Hi Lo ProRodeo’s Garden City Gal for the Round 7 win.
