Since 1953 the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo has featured some of ProRodeo’s biggest stars as they duke it out for a piece of the historic rodeo’s prize money. From April 14-15, cowboys will have a chance to win big and possibly leave their mark in the Oakdale arena record book.

Heeler Cory Petska (left) and header Erich Rogers compete during Round 5 of the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The duo split the round win and went on to win the heeler and header world championships. Rogers, who is now roping with Clint Summers, is going to be out of action indefinitely because of knee injury he suffered March 3 while steer wrestling at a non-PRCA event.

Since 1988, the Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, Nev., has attracted some of the biggest names in ProRodeo but only the best make the arena record book. Saddle bronc rider Dan Mortensen’s (pictured above) held the Logandale record of 89 points since 2005, which helped him also set the two-head average record of 171 points.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Mason Clements hadn’t been to the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo since 2015. And that time didn’t end memorably for the Utah cowboy. Well, it did, but not for a good reason. The 2018 NCFR at Silver Spurs Arena will be one that Clements remembers for a long time.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Joey Sonnier III is proving he belongs among the world’s top saddle bronc riders. After about a decade out of rodeo, the Louisiana cowboy and Southeastern Circuit year-end champ has also added RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo average winner to his résumé.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Cody Tew and Matt Robertson don’t rodeo full time, but they make sure they get to their circuit rodeos in hopes of qualifying for the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo. The qualifiers from the Montana Circuit made their trip to the 2018 NCFR count in a big way, winning the opening round in 5.7 seconds. They took home $6,254 each Friday night.

Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s 579 Outa Sight suffered a fatal bout of colic April 4 at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Rodeo fans might recognize this horse from Kaycee Feild's winning, 87-point ride in Round 4 of the 2010 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Spring has sprung and ProRodeo competition is heating up, as 27 cowboys moved up within the Top 15 last week. With $774,004 up for grabs across nine rodeos last week, the spring run has officially begun. Team ropers Charly Crawford and Clint Summers (pictured above) won $14,017 each at Rodeo Austin, moving them from outside of the Top 50 and well within the Top 15.
