For the Record: Denver

by Matt Naber | Jan 16, 2019

Denver’s National Western Stock Show and Rodeo has hosted some of the biggest names in ProRodeo since 1946. Winning big at Denver can set the pace for the rest of the year. It’s not unheard of for last year’s 13th highest-paying rodeo to see cowboys leave with more than $10,000.

Cowboys have from Jan. 17-27 to win a piece of the prize money, but only the best make the arena record book.

The 2018 National Western Stock Show and Rodeo was truly one for the record books, as five records were broken. Among the bunch was one of the fastest team roping times in PRCA history, a 3.5-second run from Jake Orman and Will Woodfin.

Only a handful of team roping runs have clocked in at 3.5 seconds. Even fewer have made 3.4-second runs and the fastest time is 3.3 seconds, achieved by only three team roping pairs.

Orman finished 35th in the 2018 PRCA | RAM World Standings for team roping headers with $42,494 and Woodfin ranked 34th in heeling with $42,154. Of that total, $3,966 came from their 3.5-second run during the second round at Denver last year.

Their record and the rest of Denver’s top runs and rides could be topped during the 2019 National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.
