Formal recognition for this year’s inductees will commence at 6 p.m. (MT), June 15, with a dinner to be held at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame in Medora. The dinner welcomes inductees, their families and friends, and is open to the public. The induction ceremony follows at 1 p.m., June 16, at Tjaden Terrace, also in Medora and open to the public. “We are thrilled to welcome Stran Smith as our special guest speaker at this year’s Hall of Honorees Induction,” said Rick Thompson, executive director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame in the June 4 edition of the Dickinson (N.D.) Press. “Stran is a shining example of a real cowboy, having all the heart and soul it takes to endure in rodeo and in life, through good times and bad. It’s truly an honor to have him join us in celebrating this year’s honorees.” This is the 24th year honoring individuals, ranches and organizations which have made significant contributions to the development of North Dakota’s livestock industry, ranching or western lifestyle. The 2018 Class of Inductees are: Jack Reich, leader in ranching and rodeo; Dave Dahl, pre-1970 rodeo; Nevada Jorgenson, modern-era rodeo; Larry Sandvick, modern-era rodeo; Chad Berger, rodeo arena; Steve Weekes, pre-1940 ranching; Ralph Murray, modern-era ranching; Top Hand, rodeo livestock; Olson Ranch, ranches. PRCA Stat of the Week

The total committee purse of the 2017 Reno (Nev.) Rodeo was $300,000, which was tied with the Ponoka (Alberta) Stampede for the 12th-highest committee purse last season. The total payout for the 2017 Reno Rodeo was $491,909. The 2018 Reno Rodeo is June 15-23 and is part of the new Wrangler ProRodeo Tour.
