The second week of the new season only had six rodeos, but they collectively presented $754,007 worth of PRCA action Oct. 8-15. Bull rider Chase Dougherty held nothing back as he scored the first 90-point ride of the 2019 season on Rosser Rodeo’s Rowdy at the Grand National Rodeo in San Francisco, Calif.

Tie-down roper Tyson Durfey, the 2016 PRCA world champion, added the All American ProRodeo Finals presented by Pendleton Whisky title to his resume. Durfey won the crown with an 8.6-second run Saturday at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.

Bareback rider Bill Tutor had an 87-point ride on Rafter G Rodeo’s Ankle Biter to win the second round of Bracket III Friday at the All American ProRodeo Finals presented by Pendleton Whisky at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.

Bull rider Don Gay set the arena record with a 97-point ride on RSC’s Oscar at San Francisco in 1977. Gay’s score is the third-highest in ProRodeo history, and it’s four points higher than any bull ride made throughout the 2018 season. Cowboys have from Oct. 12-20 to top Gay’s record, and others, while winning their share of the San Francisco prize money which counts for the 2019 season.

Team roping heeler Rickey Green, a 10-time qualifier for the National Finals Rodeo and the 1988 NFR average winner, passed away Oct. 10 at his home in Stephenville, Texas. He was 61.

The PRCA and the American Quarter Horse Association honor the top 3 outstanding registered American Quarter Horses in each of the PRCA's timed-event categories at the annual PRCA Awards Banquet in Las Vegas before the start of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The final voting process concluded Oct. 5, and the winners have been announced.

The price of everything goes up over time, including making the cut into the Top 15 of the PRCA | RAM World Standings. Since 2016, the amount of money needed to make the Top 15 across all events went up by an average of $8,649.

The final 19 rodeos of the regular season Sept. 24-30, worth $817,686, were the deciding factor in who qualified for the 60th annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Team roping heeler Quinn Kesler, saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks and tie-down roper Ryan Jarrett burst the bubble at the last minute and made it into the Top 15. Of course, nothing is final until the standings have been audited and made official later this month.

Setting PRCA records is nothing new for Tuf Cooper. The Weatherford, Texas, cowboy added another to his resume, as he established the PRCA record for money earned in a season before the Nation Finals Steer Roping with $89,427. The previous record was set in 1998 by Guy Allen with $87,927.

Tyler Wade likely will make the 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, while partner Tyler McKnight will have to play the waiting game for the final official PRCA | RAM World Standings to see if he will return to the Wrangler NFR. The duo split the win at the 49th annual Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas, with Bubba Buckaloo and Hunter Koch, Sunday. Each team had 3.9-second runs.
