While the Top 15 in each event qualify to compete, only the best of the best leave their mark by setting a record in one of the 10 rounds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Team ropers Brady Tryan and Jake Long made their Wrangler NFR debuts in 2010 and made the trip memorable by setting the Round 4 record of 3.5 seconds. The duo placed in five of the 10 rounds, winning Round 7 in 3.9 seconds. Tryan finished fifth in the 2010 world standings for team roping heading with $164,100, and Long ranked sixth in the heeling standings with $160,907.

The Tryan/Long team returned for the 2011 Wrangler NFR, where they won Round 8 with a 3.7-second run and placed in four other rounds. Long went on to qualify in 2012 and 2014-19, ending the 2019 regular season ranked fourth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings.

Tryan hasn’t been to the Wrangler NFR since 2011, but he’s still competing and has finished within the Top 50 the last couple years. He also holds the two-head average record at the Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park, Colo., with an 8.5-second run he made with York Gill in 2012.

Long has racked up a list of rodeo records with various partners, including:
Fallon County Fair & Rodeo in Baker, Mont. – 4.1 seconds, 2016
Guymon (Okla.) Pioneer Days Rodeo – 20.0 seconds on three head, 2015
Home of Champions Rodeo in Red Lodge, Mont. – 3.6 seconds, 2012
St. Paul (Ore.) Rodeo – 9.2 seconds on two head, 2014
