Stage fright from competing at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has usually been shaken off by the time the Top 15 cowboys head into Round 2, and the round’s records show it.

Saddle bronc rider Cort Scheer made his sixth Wrangler NFR qualification a memorable one by setting the Round 2 record with a 92-point ride on Hi Lo ProRodeo's Larry Culpepper at the 2018 Wrangler NFR.

Four days later, Scheer set another Wrangler NFR round record when he and Zeke Thurston each posted 89.5-point rides in Round 6. Scheer’s score was made on Mo Betta Rodeo’s Sue City Sue, while Thurston’s was on Powder River Rodeo’s Miss Chestnut.

All told, Scheer won $122,905 by placing fourth in the average to end the 2018 season ranked sixth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $238,977. Since his rookie year in 2007, he’s won more than $1.6 million at ProRodeo events.

The Nebraska cowboy narrowly missed qualifying for the 2019 Wrangler NFR by ranking 19th in the 2019 world standings, but he’s already working toward next year’s Wrangler NFR by climbing to fourth in the 2020 world standings

Scheer also holds or shares records at:
The Amarillo (Texas) Tri-State Fair & Rodeo – 89 points, 2010
Las Vegas Elks Helldorado Days – 87 points, 2011
