COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Winning one PRCA world championship is not easy.

Steer roper Scott Snedecor is in a different category.

The Fredericksburg, Texas, cowboy enters the Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Nov. 22-23, chasing a world championship three-peat and his fifth overall.

Snedecor is trying to become the first cowboy to win three consecutive steer roping world titles since Trevor Brazile accomplished the feat in 2013-15.

“It would be awesome if I could do it again,” Snedecor said. “I have quite a bit of catching up to do, but I’m really looking forward to the Finals.”

Snedecor is returning to his 18th NFSR. His first two world titles were in 2005 and 2008. Snedecor finished sixth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $45,106. He goes in trying to chase down Brazile, who leads the standings with $71,845. Brazile has won six NFSR titles.

A year ago, Snedecor won the world title with $122,931, edging Tuf Cooper ($113,157) for the gold buckle.

Snedecor plans on riding Possum, the horse he rode to capture his last two world championships. Possum is owned by Stephen Stransky. Snedecor also will have his horse, Game Time, 8, in Mulvane.

“That horse (Possum) is so good,” Snedecor said.

Snedecor split the Round 1 win and won Round 2 and Round 10 outright at the Kansas Star Arena in 2018. He left Mulvane after earning more than any competitor at the NFSR – $51,086.

In 2017 at the NFSR, Snedecor won Rounds 3 and 9 and earned $68,336, the second-most money earned in NFSR history. Cody Lee earned an NFSR record $70,651 in 2016.

Snedecor has won 28 rounds at the NFSR, third most on the PRCA all-time list to Guy Allen (48) and Trevor Brazile (35).

“The biggest key for me is the preparation I do before (the NFSR),” Snedecor said. “The last two years I roped for dang near a full month right before the (NFSR), and the biggest deal for me is staying in shape and being prepared.”

Doors at the Kansas Star Arena open at 6:30 p.m. (CT). The competition begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $28 plus taxes and convenience fees. To book tickets go to To book a 2019 NFSR room and ticket package visit
