His younger brother, Kaleb, was the 2008 PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding Rookie of the Year; his older brother Klayten is in the military and served as an Army interrogator in Iraq in 2007…Kanin was the Wyoming State High School wrestling champion at 112 pounds as a junior and at 119 pounds as a senior; he had three offers of college wrestling scholarships…He had a 95.5-point ride on Broken Arrow Rodeo’s Wardance, the 2005 PRCA Bull of the Year, at the 2007 Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas…Kanin suffered a ruptured spleen, a partially torn right ear and broken rib at the St. Paul (Ore.) Rodeo on July 2, 2008.
