•  2008: Placed third in Rounds 5 and 10 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, with Clay O'Brien Cooper; won the Flagstaff (Ariz.) Pine Country Pro Rodeo, with Kyon Sayer
•  2007: (Partner Clay O'Brien Cooper) Won the Clark County Fair and Rodeo (Logandale, Nev.); the Canyonlands PRCA Rodeo (Moab, Utah); the Snake River Stampede (Nampa, Idaho) and the Puyallup (Wash.) Pro Rodeo (second round, Tour Playoffs)
•  2006: Won the average title at the Puyallup (Wash.) Pro Rodeo and the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show & Rodeo (Union), with Dean Tuftin
•  2005: (Partner Kory Koontz) Won the Summer Tour Finale (Omaha, Neb.); co-champion at the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo; won the average title at the Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup Rodeo; won the average title at the California Rodeo Salinas; qualified for the Tour Championships after finishing third at the Winter Tour Finale; won the Wrangler Tour round title at the Guymon (Okla.) Pioneer Days Rodeo. During the fifth performance of the 2005 Wrangler NFR, he suffered a right thumb amputation that occurred at the top joint of the thumb, forcing him out of the competition; doctors were unable to reattach his thumb. Won $17,921 through Round 5 at the Wrangler NFR; finished eighth in the world standings for the year with $106,017
•  2004: (Partner Allen Bach) Finished fifth in the world with $134,685 and was 14th in the Wrangler NFR average, picking up $60,779; Co-champion at La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Tucson, Ariz.); semifinalist at the Winter Tour Finale (Las Vegas, Nev.); finished second at the Summer Tour Finale (Omaha, Neb.) and third at the Tour Championships (Dallas); and won Round 3 at the Wrangler NFR with a time of 5.5 seconds and tied for the win in Round 10 with a time of 4.0
•  2003: Won Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Puyallup (Wash.) Rodeo, and the Pendleton (Ore.) Round-up with partner Boogie Ray; was high-point winner on the summer Tour; won Round 6 with a 3.9-second run and Round 9 with a 4.2 at the Wrangler NFR with partner Allen Bach; finished second at the Wrangler NFR with $81,079 in NFR earnings and was second in the world with $144,768
•  2002: Won (with Clay O’Brien Cooper) Prescott (Ariz.) Frontier Days Rodeo and Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days Rodeo
•  1999: Won (with Clay O’Brien Cooper) National Western Stock Show & Rodeo (Denver)
•  1998: Won (with John Paul Lucero) Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo
•  1994: Set team roping aggregate record (with Clay O’Brien Cooper), 59.1 seconds on 10 head
•  Set PRCA record with Jake Barnes for most team roping world titles with seven, which was surpassed in 2004
•  Won Wrangler NFR team roping average championship (with Clay O’Brien Cooper), 1985, 1994 and 2007
•  Won Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo with Clay O’Brien Cooper in 1987, 1989, and 1995-96
•  Won Turquoise Circuit year-end title from 1985-89, 1992, 1994-95 and 1997

Awards
Horse Heza Gray Moon (nickname Barney) finished second in the PRCA/AQHA Team Roping Head Horse of the Year race, 2004. Barnes was honored with the inaugural Legends of ProRodeo Award given by the PRCA and Athletes in Action, 2006

6-3, 200…Wife, Toni (married 1989); daughters, Sunny and Shelly; sons Tuff, Bo Jake and Anthony…Hobbies include playing basketball, hunting and fishing…His great uncle was a world champion tie-down roper and he wanted to be like him so that is how he got his start…Parents are Raymond and Tootsie and he has one sister named Roma…Enjoys watching Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings
