• Won the Cassia County Fair & Rodeo (Burley, Idaho) and surpassed $3 million in career earnings. With his $3,000,856 through Aug. 21, he became just the second cowboy to cross the milestone, joining all-around star roper Trevor Brazile. Etbauer, who had won $1,334 in team roping, also was closing in on crossing the $3 million mark in a single event. He had $478 to go on that milestone through Aug. 21.

He won the third round with a 90-point ride on Sankey Rodeo’s Skitso, tied for the win in the seventh round with an 86.5 on Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Wasp, won the eighth round with an 87.5 on Kesler Championship Rodeo’s Coffee Break and tied for the win in rounds nine and 10 with scores of 87 and 90 on Frankin Rodeo’s No Name and Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Big Jet, respectively. Won the Summer Tour Finale (Omaha, Neb.); the 101 Wild West Rodeo (Ponca City, Okla.); the War Bonnet Roundup Rodeo (Idaho Falls, Idaho); Iowa’s Championship Rodeo (Sidney, Iowa) and the Dixie National Rodeo (Jackson, Miss.). 5-5, 140...Wife, Hollie (married April 2, 1994) was a scholarship track and field athlete at Oklahoma State University and now competes in barrel racing; sons, Kord (born 1997) and Treg (2002); daughter, Jacie (1999)...Hollie home-schools all of their children...Hobbies include raising and riding horses. The family breeding program began in the fall of 1995 with the purchase of No Whistle, a sorrel stallion...Competed with his brothers Robert and Dan. When they started they shared a bank account. When one won money, they would share so that they could compete at the next rodeo. Billy says this was nice because it kept them on the rodeo road and he knew he could always trust his brothers to help him out.
